Texas Holdem is played by the same rules in most online
poker rooms. It is important that you know them back to
front to know when to bet, raise, fold, etc... The aim of Texas Hold'em is to make the best possible five card hand from any combination of two pocket cards and five board cards.

Texas Holdem leg 1 - To start with the blinds need to be posted.
Blinds are seed money to make sure everyone keeps
the game going and they ensure that players will not just
sit there, and wait to get the best hand before putting
any money in to the pot. The movement of the action rotates clockwise
around the table and normally two players will pay a
blind each hand (i.e. $1/2 blinds). To know which players are to post the blinds then a
dealer button is used and it is the two players on the
left that need to contribute.
Texas Holdem leg 2 - Once blinds are posted then two cards (pocket cards) are dealt (facedown) one by one,
to each player. Then the first
round of betting takes place. Betting starts on the player
to the left of the blind and goes around clockwise.
Texas Holdem leg 3 - After the betting is finished, three
cards are dealt (face up) in the middle of the table,
this is called the flop. These are community cards
that are shared and seen by all players. These cards are
used to make the best possible poker hand in combination with the pocket cards you already have. Another round
of betting commences but this time the player to the left
of the dealer button makes the first move.

Texas Holdem leg 4 - After this round of betting is complete then
another card is dealt to the communal pile in the middle
of the poker table. This is the turn card. Now
there are four cards in the community pile, and each player
still has their own pocket cards in their hand. Another round
of betting takes place starting at the very left of the
dealer button once again.
Texas Holdem leg 5 - Once the betting is over in this round
then the last card is dealt to the communal pile. This
is the RIVER! At this point a total of five communal
cards will be in the middle of the table and each player
still in the hand will have two cards in their hand. This
is where you make the best five card hand using any combination
of cards from the board and your two facedown cards. A
final round of betting takes place. Once this is over
then everyone left shows their cards and the highest hand
wins!
